Hi everyone! My name is Brianna Monte and I’m a junior Nursing/Sociology major. Last year, I worked on a two-semester study focusing on mass incarceration and its impacts on Black individuals, specifically analyzing their self-concept and identity. This summer, I was able to finish this research with Dr. Talbert and will be presenting our paper at the Southern Sociological Society Conference this spring.

I am very excited to be joining the Meanings of Democracy Lab this year and focus on federal funding of abortion and the ways in which each political party broaches this subject in their platforms.
